First Pack meeting of the school year!

October 2nd is the first Pack meeting of the school year. Pack meetings are typically fun events where all the Den’s meet together to tell jokes, put on skits, and sing songs. It is also a time to recognize the accomplishments of our scouts.

Trailblazer Days is this Saturday 9/23

If you want to come experience what Scouting is all about, you have ANOTHER great opportunity at Belk Scout Camp This Saturday Sept 23 from 9am to 1pm,

  • Trailblazer Days is for families! This includes Current Scouts and friends as well as the curious who aren’t yet a part of our Scouting Community. This event is held 9am-1pm at Belk Scout Camp, 9408 Belt Rd, Midland, NC 28107 and features different activities such as Fishing, Rockets, Climbing, BMX and more! Each youth must be accompanied by a responsible adult. This is an Individual Sign Up. You can do so today at https://www.mccscouting.org/Trailblazer2023 for $12 (youth and adults are the same price). Tomorrow, 9/21/2023 the fee will be $15. This event is limited to 400 people and is about 75% sold as of this afternoon.

ScoutBook & Fundraiser

Parents: ScoutBook is the resource 502 uses to track your scout’s advancement through CubScouts and all the way to them earning their Scouts BSA Eagle Rank. There is a convenient mobile app available for download on Apple and Android devices, and a tutorial at https://help.scoutbook.scouting.org/knowledge-base/scoutbook-tutorial-for-parents.

Your Scouts’ Den Leaders will try to enter your Scouts’ attendance and advancement every week, but you can also help make sure things are correct and up to date. If you have not yet downloaded the app, set up a ScoutBook account, and logged in to your child’s ScoutBook, please do so this week.

The AutoBell Car wash fundraiser is one of our Packs big fundraisers. We can only do it once a year. Selling those wash cards gives your scout $10 per sale. Many scouts pay their own way through the scouting program using this fundraiser. If you have questions, please email cschnall30@gmail.com

McDowell Park 10a-4p Day Trip 9/16

Pack 502 will be going on a day trip to McDowell Park at 15222 York Rd, Charlotte, NC 28278 this Saturday, Sept 16 from 10 am to 4pm. We will meet at the Nature Center Parking Lot (see map from Harrison Church) on Shady Hollow Trail.

Scouts should come in uniform if possible (you can “shop” 502’s closet of used uniforms or visit the Scout Shop for new). In general, we encourage bringing the Cub Scout Six Essentials on every scouting outing, which help us scouts Be Prepared not only for our own needs, but in case we need to give assistance to others.

We will be hiking and cooking lunch over the coals together, so bring your Mess Kit. Each Den will be working on their own age-specific adventure: Mountain Lion, Tigers in the Wild, Call of the Wild (Wolf), Bear Necessities, Webelos Walkabout, and Outdoor Adventurer (AOL’s), and maybe a few requirements from other adventures, so please review these in your Cub Scout Handbook and bring it along on Saturday so we can record the activities that you do.

Parents, if you do not yet have access to ScoutBook, please follow this tutorial to get yourself set up so you can help update your child’s records. At our next pack meeting, we want everyone to be awarded all the belt loops they have earned.

We understand that not everyone will be able to attend all day, so please come join us when you can and use our What’sApp group for communication. If you are not part of that yet, or if you have any questions, please email Mr Fisher at SM@Troop502.com.
