Harrison Church Food Drive

Harrison Church’s Food Pantry needs your help! Pantry inventory is extremely low and our Loaves & Fishes supplier is struggling due to a sharp decline in donations. For 3 weeks, October 15th thru November 6th, Harrison is holding a Food Drive to help fill the on-campus pantry. This is not a scout-sponsored activity but an individual contribution to the food pantry. You can leave donations right where you come in on the first floor before you go up for the scout meeting.
Please consider bringing in any of the following items:
Canned Peaches and/or Pears
Canned Tomatoes- any variety
Pork & Beans,
Canned Soup,
Crackers,
Oatmeal – all varieties,
Grits,
Ketchup, Mustard, Mayonnaise (Dollar Tree is a great source)
Shampoo, Bar Soap,
Feminine Products, and Toilet Paper.
Thank you for donating to our neighbors in need of food!

Plea for Pack 502 Volunteers

We are excited that Pack 502 is growing because more adults supporting the program and overseeing the details, means less “falls through the cracks” resulting in delivery of a fuller and higher quality Scouting program to our CubScouts!

Several of your fellow parents have already committed to the more time-intensive roles of Den Leader, Committee Chair, and Finance Chair, but in addition to their main roles, they are also taking on one or more other roles. Frankly, they are doing too much. To prevent burnout, we simply must have other parents come alongside and help lighten the load.

Pack 502’s Volunteer Roles tend to be arranged from most critical to “great to have” (or in chronological order). Pack Leadership is asking that each parent take on one event, one activity, or one role and do it with excellence. The Parents Committee especially needs a Secretary & Advancement Chair and the Pack especially needs an Assistant Cubmaster, and Den Leaders and Assistant Den Leaders for both the Wolf and Webelos Dens.

If you only have a little time to give, you can find some opportunities like the derby car-cutting clinics or Journey to Excellence, or a food drive or planning for a party or banquet that only involves five to ten hours of service per year. Other roles just take a couple of hours twice a month. Some offerings of the CubScout program, such as STEM Nova or Religious Emblems simply don’t happen without a Counselor or Chairperson in that role – but they’re truly great to have and make for a more memorable and meaningful scouting experience.

The Volunteer Roles signup sheet will be at tonight’s and next week’s meetings. Please review and see where you fit; we look forward to seeing your name on it as an assistant, coordinator, subcommittee member, or other Pack Leader or Parents Committee role. We will train and support you in your position!

If you have any questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to email the Cubmaster at CM@Pack502.org
