Pack Updates

  • There is no meeting tomorrow, February 20th in observance of President’s Day
  • February 27th will be the Troop and Pack’s Court of Honor.  Please meet in the church sanctuary and not the multi-purpose room we usually attend.  Since this is a formal event, please wear your Scout uniform if you have one.  Scouts and Cubs that have achieved advancements will be awarded to them this evening.

February 20 Monday is the last day to document the adventures your Cub Scout has completed so please thoroughly update your Cub Scout’s handbook and sign off/date as many items they have done. We want to give out as many awards as possible.

So far, Cub Scouts who have attended every meeting should have completed the following:

(or another elective); Bear Claws; Webelos: First Responder; AOL’s: Castaway (or another elective). Bears, Webelos & AOL’s all should have done the Whittlin’ Chip – they must carve and photograph a block of soap.
  • January 2023 Citizenship Lion: King of the Jungle, Team Tiger, Wolf: Council Fire; Bear: Paws for Action; Webelos: Aware and Care (or other elective) AOLs: Building a Better World.
  • February 2023 Duty to God & Reverence Lion: Pick my Path; Tiger Circles: Wolf: Duty to God Footsteps; Bear: Fellowship and Duty to God; Webelos: Duty to God and You; AOLs Duty to God in Action (AOL).

All of these adventures are summarized in this Cub Scout Program Spreadsheet and detailed in your Cub Scout handbook. QUESTIONS? email SM@Troop502.com

February 26, 2023 Sunday 9am and 11am, Pack and Troop 502 are participating in Scout Sunday passing out bulletins and serving as ushers. Harrison Church gives us use of their facilities without charge and this is our community service back to them. This also satisfies some of the requirements for the Duty to God Adventures that we are completing this month. Please email committee@troop502.com and SM@Troop502.com to let us know which service you are attending.

February 27, 2023 Monday 7pm Pack meeting in the sanctuary (building with the steeple) for awards.

TRAINING: The BSA Mecklenburg County Council has a mandatory 100% trained requirement for all leaders, so if you are a registered adult, den leader or committee member, we MUST complete our training in February, so that we can re-charter in March. Details about required training are on our RESOURCES webpage

Please RSVP to SM@Troop502.com if interested in any of the following:

Treasurer and Advancement Coordinator Announcement!

A BIG thank you to Lijing Zhunge and Divya Karmagam who have graciously offered to take on the Pack Treasurer and Advancement Coordinator positions, respectively,  for Pack 502! They have now been “officially” set up as same and are now able to assume those roles for the pack.

We thank all parents who have stepped up and helped our adult leaders get the pack off the ground. We still need all hands on deck to be able to give our Cubs the support they need with our expanding program, and appreciate your continued dedication!

INFO FOR MONDAY MEETINGS

Parents, please make it a routine for your scout to always bring their handbook to Monday night meetings.  Since our court of honor is coming up on February 27th, we must have all books available to check so that those who have earned advancements can be recognized.

CAMP CARD FUNDRAISER UPDATE

Please see recent post below regarding the camp card fundraiser.  We do realize that the pack was not in house last Monday, so cards will still be available to them.  Cards will be available at the Monday, February 13th meeting.

The BSA Meck County Council camp card fundraiser has begun! For those not familiar, camp cards are a coupon card with both one time use coupons as we all re-usable coupons good until 12/31/23.

Cost per card is $10, with the scout receiving $5 back to their scout account for each card sold. The proceeds can be used towards their yearly dues obligation.  On a related note our recharter for the new scout year (April 1- March 31) will be here soon, and proceeds can be applied to that dues obligation.

Cards will be available at our February 6th meeting and the sale will run for one month. No money is due at this time. Cards may be returned if not sold provided they are returned in the condition they were received in. Any unsold cards not returned by March 6th, or cards returned in a damaged condition, will be charged to the scout. Note that this fundraiser is optional, however we do encourage scouts to participate.

  • Payment for sold cards may be made in cash or check payable to Pack 502.
