How to become a Cub Scout Leader and Cub Scout Adult Training Opportunities Every Scout deserves a fully trained leader. As an adult involved with Cub Scouting, you will find that BSA training programs will equip you with tools you can put to immediate use in your leadership position to deliver a quality Cub Scouting program while mentoring youth in our community. As you become comfortable in your role, BSA offers additional opportunities to refine your skills.

REQUIRED ADULT LEADER TRAINING:
Youth Protection Training (YPT) is designed to keep our youth safe from abuse. All registered leaders must complete YPT online when first registering and must retake the course every two years after that. Participants learn the BSA Youth Protection Guidelines, signs of abuse, and how to report suspected abuse. Anyone may create a user account and complete the courses, but to receive credit, BSA members must provide their membership number when taking the course.
Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) is REQUIRED IN PERSON TRAINING for a Cub Scout den or pack to do an outdoor event, including pack and den camping, or Webelos overnight adventures. Cub Scout Pack 502 requires one, but strongly encourages all adult leaders to SIGN UP HERE and complete this course.
Den Leader Position-Specific Training provides Cub Scout den leaders with the basic information they need to conduct successful den meetings
CubMaster and Assistant CubMaster Position-Specific Training provides Cubmasters and assistant Cubmasters with basic information they need to conduct successful pack meetings.
Pack Committee Challenge is Position-Specific Training designed to familiarize pack committee members with the various committee positions and responsibilities and helps the pack committee work as a team to improve the Scouting experience for adult and youth members.
NOTE: YPT and all above Position-Specific Training courses are available online. Sign in to MyScouting.org using your BSA ID, click on “My Training” and search for “Cub Scout Learning Plans” or try this link: Training.Scouting.org
