Spring Cub-o-ree is coming up May 19-21 at Belk Scout Camp

Spring Cub-o-ree is coming up May 19-21 at Belk Scout Camp. This is a super fun and memorable weekend where cub scouts from all over our district get together for camping, competitions, fun, and games. Our Chartered Organizational Representative, Brian Hooper, is also involved with Pack 119, which is a larger pack than 502. He has generously opened their campsite to 502 and another smaller pack so we can all camp and cook together, which makes things MUCH easier. The Leaders Guide for the weekend is here t.ly/dvlT and has more info about the events. We need a headcount of people who want to attend. 119 has several of the volunteer positions covered, but says “we will need a MC for the CampFire and a quartermaster (duties below). Also, we are in desperate need of people to open the climbing wall (training required and is offered May 5-7 t.ly/RI0T) and shooting ranges (training required and is offered April 29th t.ly/7urO2), as well as someone to put together an obstacle course”. It would be fantastic if Pack 502 parents coordinated to get this training and make these memorable and fun activities available to our scouts and all the others who will be at Cub-o-ree.

Registration is now open. Pricing: Cub Scout $20.00 Siblings $20.00 Adult $20.00. Registration will close on May 08, 2023 at 11:59 PM. Full payment will be required upfront in order to register. Self-registration is allowed. Reductions to the number of spots in your registration will not be allowed online; you’ll need to instead reach out to the Event Contact to reduce the number of attendees.

Quartermaster Duties: The Quartermaster ensures that the operations of the camp run smoothly. 1) activity stations have the supplies and equipment necessary for smooth operation; 2) Ensure water is available at all activity stations for participant consumption; 3) Check in/out camp resources from the Ranger Compound; 4) Ensure parking lots are set up appropriately for traffic flow; 5) Assist with traffic control during load-in; 6) Assist Camp master with stocking consumables in restrooms; 7) Spot clean restrooms during the event. 8) Assist the Campmaster with closing camp facilities. A good quartermaster will handle issues as they arise and serve as the chief advisor to the Cubmasters during the weekend.
