Camping 11/4. No 10/31 meeting on Halloween.

Pack 502 is not meeting tonight (10/31) to allow families to enjoy Halloween together.
Cub Scouts are going camping this weekend (11/4)!

WHO: All 502 Cub Scouts, their parents, siblings, grandparents and other family members are welcome to attend. Families will tent & sleep together.
WHERE: Westminster Park, a 320 acre natural park on the Catawba River in Rock Hill, SC
WEATHER: Forecast is for light clouds and 0% chance of rain the whole weekend, with temperatures in the low-70s Friday evening, mid-50s through the night and mid-60s for our hike. It should be beautiful!
LEAVE: Meet at Harrison Church 15008 Lancaster Hwy Pineville NC Friday night 5:30pm and we will caravan/carpool together.
RETURN: We will leave the campsite and return midday Saturday.
COST: We priced the trip at $40 per family based on 2 nights and 4 people per family. With the trip being one night and fewer people, the cost will be significantly lower and correlated with actual costs of facility rental, fuel, food, etc.

ACTIVITIES: We will have fun putting to use all the skills we have been learning about: nutrition, hydration, camping gear, The Cub Scout Six (6) essentials the Outdoor Code for Cub Scouts and Leave no Trace Principles for Kids.  We will have an evening fire, s’mores. Each family is requested to bring a fun camp song, a skit a clean funny joke or a run-on (one liner, groaner, dad joke). More ideas are here: cub scout skits, other skits and run-ons. Cub Scouts will also work on the Bobcat Badge if they have not yet earned it.

PAPERWORK TO BRING each scout and adult needs to bring:
1. a BSA Health Form and copy of their health insurance card.
2. Parent signed and dated How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide (pamphlet also in front of each Cub Scout handbook) confirming that parent has reviewed with cub name.
3. All adults who are attending the campout need to complete their Youth Protection Training (YPT) and scan/email the certificate to sm@troop502.com and committee@troop502.com.

GEAR: Please review the LEFT side column of the GEAR CHECKLIST. Cub Scouts should bring their Cub Scout 6 Essentials in a day pack and families should bring a one night supply of the Personal Camping Gear for everyone attending. This would include: a uniform for traveling if you have one; casual clothes in layers for around the campfire; sleeping bag/blankets, warm pj’s; plates and utensils for breakfast; cleanup kit; and clothes, socks and shoes for the morning hike. Cub Scouts should bring your water bottle holder if you made one.  The Pack should have most of the PACK CAMPING GEAR CHECKLIST on the RIGHT side column, however if your family has tent(s), lawn chairs, camp stools, s’mores roasting skewers and musical instruments that can you can use to help us with singing, please bring those.

FOOD: Please eat dinner before you arrive on Friday. We will have snacks and s’mores, but not a full meal Friday night. For Saturday Breakfast we will have available pancakes, eggs, potatoes, bacon or sausage, oatmeal, Greek yoghurt and mixed berries, so you can pick and choose. If you have special dietary needs that this menu will not accommodate, please let us know. Your day pack should include non-perishable trail food as one of the Cub Scout 6 Essentials. Here are some ideas for trail mix
