Well August certainly snuck up on us! We had scheduled the Pack 502 Family Fun Day for this Saturday but will need to reschedule. New date TBD.
We would like to use this event to recruit new scouts for all dens so we will be posting info you can share with friends and family to invite.

“I wanted to express my extreme gratitude for the card and the gift from the dens. I had a good follow up visit with the cardiologist [Wednesday]. I have been released for part time work beginning [today] and should start cardio rehab in the next two weeks. I am following Dr. and Wife’s orders towards a full recovery. I unfortunately will not attend the camping trip to Cane Creek.” — THANK YOU EACH AND ALL.
Pack 502 will have an optional series of events this summer to keep kids engaged and having fun with Scouts! Scouts can participate in events that will count towards next school year’s requirements (ask your Den leader for details). June’s event is camping at Cane Creek Park in Waxhaw.

We will need confirmation of attendance by this Tuesday 6/13 end of day. Please call Mark Bartholomew at (704) 608-8504 and let him know if you plan on attending as we need to determine what to bring out. Cost per person will depend on final numbers RSVP.
As it is summer time, it will be hot and there may be a possibility of late day storms; please plan accordingly.
Yesterday afternoon Eddie was experiencing chest pains. After it didn’t get any better, he went to the hospital where they discovered he needed immediate heart surgery. If he hadn’t gone to the hospital he would have had a massive heart attack. He is now resting comfortably but is being monitored and is expected home tomorrow.
Please keep the Stewart family in your prayers. We’ll update more when we have more to share.
Please make ever effort to attend: this is the culmination of the entire year for your Scout.
Fri 5/19: Dinner on your own. Arrive at Belk Scout Camp and follow signs to Boy Scout sites 1 and 2 (off the parking lot by the dining hall). We’ll have s’mores at camp site.
If you can’t camp, you are expected to come for the day/evening ceremonies.
- 8:30am Breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, milk, juice)
- After breakfast: Leisure time fishing (bring your own rod and bait), hiking, ga-ga-ball.
- 12:20pm Lunch (sandwiches with ham, turkey, lettuce, tomatoes, chips, water, lemonade)
- 3:00pm Parents Planning Meeting at dining hall for 2017/2018 school year.
- 5:30pm Graduation Ceremony at Lake Amphitheater
- 7:30pm Dinner: Pasta, Marinara or meat sauce, Texas toast, salad, water, lemonade, Dutch oven dessert.
Sun 5/21: 8:30am Breakfast (bagels, cream cheese, fruit, cereal) followed by clean up, Scouts Service, break camp.
We’ll be discussing plans for this weekend’s graduation ceremony. Please be sure to either sign up to camp or sign up to come for the day on Saturday. All scouts are expected to attend as they are receiving special recognition for all their accomplishments from this year!
Please let Mark Bartholomew know by Monday 4/24 meeting if you are planning to attend next weekend’s camping trip to NC Transportation Museum/Tiger World. Please also indicate if you are only coming for the day or if you will only be staying for one night.
All scouts are needed this Saturday 3/25 at 9am to help spread pine needles to beautify the church grounds. The Trustees have asked for our help.
Please arrive in Class Bs or an orange t-shirt to spread mulch.

Day camp for rising Wolves, Bears and Webelos who do not want to attend overnight camp is now open. We register as a pack and need to finalize numbers before 4/13. Sign ups will be available Monday.
Camp dates: Monday June 19 – Friday June 23, 2017
Times: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily
For each 4 scouts that register, the pack is required to provide 1 volunteer per day. If you sign your son up, you are expected to volunteer at least one day of camp.
$125 per scout per week if registered and paid by April 13, 2017.
$150 per scout until May 30, 2017
Each Pack is required to provide one adult volunteer for every four scouts registered for the week.
“Me-Too” and “Pink Patrol” Programs are available for adult volunteers with more than just one child at home. Here are some options which are available to parents who volunteer.
Option 1 = Me-Toos: Children ages 2 (potty trained) to 6
- 1st Me-Too is free
- 2nd Me-Too and thereafter is $20
Option 2 = Pink Patrol
- For sisters who are rising kindergarteners through 5th grade who want to do everything the Cub Scouts are doing
- Cost is the same as it is for Cub Scouts, $125 until April 13th or $150 until May 30th
