Blue and Gold + Camping this weekend!

This weekend is an exciting adventure for all scouts and families.

Camping will be at CrossWinds Campground in Linwood, NC from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon.  We will also be celebrating the birth of Scouting through Blue & Gold ceremonies on Saturday evening.  High level agenda is as follows:

  • Friday arrival (late afternoon/evening) – bring your own dinner/eat prior to arrival
  • Saturday – breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided.  Morning activities include Tiger World or NC Transportation Museum (each family pays their own admission).  Lunch will be served at the campground, followed by afternoon fun, fishing and fellowship.  Dinner will also be provided.
  • Sunday – breakfast is provided.  There is a short prayer, clean up and departure late morning / early afternoon.

Unique to this campground: fishing is available, there is playground on site and a horseshoe pit for adults and walking trails.

This weekend at Tiger World: Celebrate and help the environment this Earth Day! Bring any potted tree, bush, shrub or flowering plant to Tiger World from April 22 – 29 and receive one free admission (1 per customer). This will help beautify the zoo and help our planet.

Tiger World is an endangered wildlife preserve promoting conservation through education.  You can walk around and enjoy the animals, and for an additional cost ($5 per feed cup), you can also feed some of the animals including the monkeys, bears, and birds.

The NC Transportation Museum features refurbished trains as well as a hands on museum.  Train rides are at 10:30am, 11:30am, 1:30pm and 2:30pm on Saturdays and at 1:30pm, 2:30pm and 3:30pm on Sundays.  Regular admission does not include train rides.
