Camping Trip This Weekend: Graduation Crossover

May 1-3rd is graduation/crossover and our last camping trip of the season.

Graduation/Crossover is a major step in Scouting and is when the Arrow of Light Cub Scouts transition into Boy Scouts.  This is the culmination of all Cub Scout learning and experience and is one of THE major stepping stones in Scouting.  Even if your scout is not an Arrow of Light, the pack is expected to support each other and attend the ceremony.  This event is just for our Pack 502 – it is not a district wide event with many other packs.

Even if you can’t come on Friday – Saturday is the day of the event.  Please come and support our scouts on Saturday and stay overnight on Sunday (just let Marlis know your plans).

This year the event will be held at Camp Grimes and cooking will be conducted inside the kitchen and meals are served at the dining hall.

Schedule:

Friday to 8 PM: Arrive/Set Up

8PM: Webe3los host flag retirement ceremony

10PM Until: Event Webelos II and parents, wear closed toe shoes for walking and bring a flashlight

Saturday:

8AM-9PM: Breakfast dining hall

9am-12PM Free time

12PM-2PM , Lunch Dining Hall

2-4:30 Graduation at the Chapel hosted by Bears

5pm-7PM Dinner in Dining Ha;;

8:30 pmCrossover Ceremony by the Lake

Sunday

7am-8:30 am Breakfast in the dining hall

8:30-9am Church service hosted by Tigers

9:30 am Breakdown and CLEAN CAMP AREAS-ALL Must be included

11:30 leave and return to Charlotte

Directions to Camp Grimes from Charlotte:

Take I-85 through Gastonia to exit 10B, US 74 West toward Kings Mountain / Shelby. Go 18 miles on US 74 West through Shelby. Turn right on NC 226. Go 31 miles to Vein Mountain Road. Turn left, go 0.3 miles to the camp entrance on the left.
